Sir David Hughes Parry Fund

This fund was founded in 1972 by Sir David Hughes Parry for the furtherance of Welsh Studies.

The object of the awards is to encourage studies which contribute to the cultural, social and economic needs of Wales.

Financial details

Up to £3,500 per award per academic year is available. Applications to pay for Travel and Subsistence are particularly welcomed.

Eligibility

Awards may be made for any one of the following purposes:

  • To contribute towards the expenses of the publication of scholarly works by members of the staff of the University or by registered students and candidates for research degrees of the University.
  • To make grants towards the research expenses of members of the staff of the University or candidates for research degrees of the University.
  • To provide grants of a value to be determined from time to time to enable students who have already been awarded the degree of Baccalaureus to read for a second first degree.

Applications should be made in support of small non-recurrent projects. The time-span of the project should not normally exceed 1 year.

How to apply

Application deadlines are 1st August; 1st October; 1st December; 1st February; 1st April; and 1st June. A maximum turnaround of 8 weeks is expected.

Please download application form and save as (your name DHP-Application-Form). Fill in the application form, have your Head of Department sign it then submit electronically to drbi@aber.ac.uk, with a subject title 'Sir David Hughes Parry Fund'.

Final report

Award holders will be required to submit a final report within 3 months of the project end for consideration by Research Committee.
