The University of Montana is in Missoula, a town of around 65,000 residents just 110 miles from the state capital of Helena. Missoula is a fairly small town but thanks to the vibrant student community, there is lots to do.
The University sits at the bottom of Mount Sentinel bearing the iconic ‘M’ which marks the M trail, a popular hike up the mountain. Montana has received awards for being the most scenic University and students are often taken on field trips to the world famous Yellowstone National Park.
All courses are offered in English. Students from any academic department are eligible to apply at the discretion of their department’s exchange coordinator. There are a number of course available that are similar to the following departments in Aberystwyth. These include:

- Political Science

Visa Information and Other Costs
All international and exchange students must apply for a J-1 visa as well as an I-901 SEVIS to study in the US. Both of these documents have fees attached which are liable to change year on year.
ALL students attending University of Montana MUST have health insurance and be able to prove that they have purchased it. Unless the student arranges an alternaive, health insurance is provided automatically by Montana and billed to the student. Without the appropriate health insurance, students will not be eligible for a visa.
The closest airport to University of Montana is Missoula International Airport which is around 10 miles from campus. The university does NOT offer a pick-up service but there are multiple options for getting from the airport to campus.
How to Apply
All students wishing to go on an exchange to University of Montana must apply through Aberystwyth University as they must first be nominated by the international office and students usually go in the second semester of their second year unless they have special permission from their department. All applications are made using the online application form and documents must be upload electronically.
