Located in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, the university boasts a blend of historical and modern architecture, with great sports facilities and green spaces, with its own stunning Arboretum. There are a range of accommodation options at the University of Guelph and there is a dedicated support team to help you make the most of your time there. In addition, they have a Living Learning Centre Scheme which helps you find like-minded students. All exchange students who apply by the deadline will be guaranteed a room in university accommodation and students acan apply as soon as they recieve their acceptance letter.

Visa Information and Other Costs

Depending on the duration of the exchange, some students may not need a visa or study permit to attend University of Guelph. However students must check if they will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter Canada. This currently costs $7 CAD. If you do need a study permit then according to the Canadian goverment's website 'Your eTA or visa will be issued to you at the same time as your study permit. You do not need to apply separately or to pay an additional fee.'

ALL students attending University of Guelph MUST participate in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) for the duration of their stay as well as the Student Health and Dental Plan. Students are automatically enrolled in the these plans and do not need to complete application forms. Without the appropriate health insurance, students will not be eligible for a visa.

Getting There‌

The closest international airport to University of Guelph is Pearson International Airport in Toronto. The university does offer a pick-up service‌ for students who arrive for the START orientation otherwise you can take a taxi or car service to your residence. Students are advised that, given the distance between Toronto and Guelph, it is very difficult to make the transfer using public transport.

How to Apply

All students wishing to go on an exchange to University of Guelph must apply through Aberystwyth University as they must first be nominated by the international office and students usually go in the second semester of their second year unless they have special permission from their department.
