Aims of the module
To provide the knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of grass and forage production relevant to the needs of students of agriculture and related disciplines.

On successful completion of this module students will be able to:

Syllabus / Curriculum design
This module will be delivered through a combination of lectures, laboratory practicals and field visits, with an assignment, oral and written presentations and a written examination.

Content:
Grassland types, pasture ecology, management/environment interactions, characteristics of herbage species, bred varieties, principles and techniques of pasture improvement, factors influencing pasture productivity, fertiliser practices and planning, characteristics and utilisation of forage crops.
