This module is open to all students - with little or no knowledge of the French language - regardless of their main subjects. It offers students an opportunity to study French at university level, especially as an adjunct to their main studies, to provide them with the vocational benefits that derive from knowledge of a major European and international language and the ability to embark upon exchange programmes such as Erasmus/Socrates.
On completion of this module, students will have covered the first half of 'Facon de parler 2' , and should be able to communicate on a basic level in spoken and written French.
Students will have acquired a basic knowledge about language in general as well as a basic grasp of French linguistic structures. Students will have been introduced to the cultural context in which those French structures are used.
