Brief description

This module provides a succinct introduction to the main themes of the social and political history of Wales from 1250-1850. Beginning with the period of princely power in the thirteenth century, the module will outline the changing structures of social and political authority that followed the conquest and union with England. It will examine challenges to this authority up to and including the initial phase of industrialisation. This general overview will enable you to study questions of change, ideology and identity in history, and will provide a starting point for the more in-depth study of Wales in Part Two.
