Brief description

Available only to non-native speakers of English. This module aims to develop a critical understanding of the processes involved in preparing to write an academic text. Through workshops and seminars the module will focus upon such key issues as analysis of purpose, the identification and use of primary and secondary source material, and development of awareness of semantic patterns within academic text. Through the sub-skills of information searching, effective reading skills and recording and retrieval of information in different forms, students will develop and practice the skills that lead to high quality academic writing. This module is further developed in module EL11110 in Semester 2.
