Library borrowing facilities
Some visitors may be able to apply for an Associate Reader’s card to gain borrowing and some other library rights.
Other visitors may be able to access library collections through one or other of the access schemes which make AU library facilities available to users from other institutions or members of other libraries.
Library reference facilities
Visitors to the Library who are not entitled to apply for an Associate Reader's card and cannot participate in any of the library access schemes may register for reference use only. Reference use only tickets are issued for up to one year and entitle the holder to use any material held in the library and to make photocopies (subject to copyright regulations). Tickets can be obtained from the main desk in each of the University's library.
Computing facilities
There is a visitor computer in the Hugh Owen Library which is reserved for visitors to Aberystwyth University who need to browse the Internet, this provides access to our visitors' network. Please note that licence restrictions mean that visitors to the Library may not use our networked computing facilities which includes certain resources e.g. databases and electronic journals.
If you wish to bring your own laptop with you, you can connect this to our visitors wireless network.
Photocopying and printing facilities
Visitors needing to photocopy should enquire at the main desk in each library where they can borrow a photocopying card. A fee will be charged for the card and any credit not used on it's return will be refunded. Photocopying is currently charged at the rate of 5p per A4 sheet.
If you need to print anything while on campus Media and Printing Services in the Hugh Owen Library can arrange printing from webpages and from devices such as USB pen drives for visitors for a fee.
