AUSLCJ Journal Submission Guidelines

Call for Papers

We are not currently accepting submissions.  We plan another call for papers during the next academic year (2015-16) 

 

Submissions

Please read the submission guidelines carefully before sending any work.

The Journal welcomes submissions in English and Welsh.

All submissions should be made to: auslcj@aber.ac.uk (emails must be in English). When submitting, please use the subject Submission Piece.

Please include a cover letter stating your name, your email address, your university and degree scheme, year of study and whether the manuscript is a Law submission or a Criminology submission.

We will only consider one piece of work from each author.

 

Preparation of Manuscripts

Manuscripts submitted electronically should be sent in MS Word format.

Text should be A4, double-spaced with numbered pages.

Headings should be in Cambia (size 14) and text should be Calibri (size 11).

New Paragraphs should not be indented, but two lines below instead.

Text should be aligned to the left, not justified.

 

Content and Length

Articles These should be between 1,500 and 10,000 words (excl. footnotes). All articles should include an abstract of 200 words with a maximum of six keywords.
Comments These are case comments and comments on law reform/ proposals. They should be no longer than 2000 words. 
Book reviews Should be no longer than 2000 words. There should be no footnotes or other references which cannot be contained within the text. The book should be recently published. 
Reviewers should set out the following details of the work under review: the title, the author’s name, the place of publication, the name of the publisher, the year of publication, the number of pages, whether the work is hardback or paperback and the price: e.g. Criminal Law: Texts Cases and Materials; Jonathan Herring; Oxford; Oxford University Press; 2013; xiv + 400 pp; pbk; £35.99

 

Footnotes and Referencing

All footnotes and citations to authority within Law submissions must conform to OSCOLA 2006. http://www.law.ox.ac.uk/published/OSCOLA_4th_edn_Hart_2012.pdf
Criminology manuscripts that use the SAGE Harvard reference style are preferred; however, we will review Criminology submissions that utilize other citation formats. http://www.uk.sagepub.com/repository/binaries/pdf/SAGE_Harvard_reference_style.pdf

 

Copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practice in publication

The Aberystwyth University Student Law and Criminology Journal takes issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practice in publication very seriously. We seek to protect the reputation of the journal against malpractice. With regard to plagiarism we reserve the right to take action including, but not limited to: retracting the article (removing it from the journal); taking up the matter with the head of department and banning the author from publication in the journal.

 

Declaration of conflicting interests

Any direct or indirect conflict of interest must be declared.
