The Cistercians were one of the most powerful and influential organizations during the medieval period. In this module, you will learn about the beginnings of the Cistercians, from their founders moving away from the Benedictines in France, and their spread across Europe into Britain. We will also be looking at how successful they were and why - using Strata Florida and Tintern Abbey as examples.
