Learning Outcomes
After taking this module students should be able to:
- Show detailed understanding of the Physics of their topic of study
- Review the recent developments in the research field of interest documented in the literature
- Present their work orally and in a formal written account
Brief description
Each student will review a topic of interest to a research group in the Institute under the supervision of an academic member of staff. They will present their review both orally and in a formal dissertation. The work will cover the Physics relevant to the topic of study and recent developments in the research field as documented in the literature.
For students who take module PHM5860, the dissertation will be in preparation for the extended project to be carried out in semester 2.

Content
The research topic will be different for each project.
Aims
The student reviews recent developments in a research field of interest as documented in the refereed literature. The review is presented in a written dissertation and is discussed orally.
