Finding Work Experience

The internet provides a wealth of information relevant to all aspects of your future. However, when it comes to looking for work experience, you probably know how important it is but it can be difficult to know where to start.

We receive details of work experience opportunities on a regular basis and these are posted on our vacancy database. Whether you are looking for a short unpaid opportunity or a longer term paid position or even something in between, it's always a good idea to see what is being advertised before you start exploring other resources.

Our Useful Resources page provides plenty of information on vacancies and other career-related issues. Alternatively, you may already know that you would like to look at options directly related to your area of study and want to explore what you can do with your subject or research. If so, see Subject Specific Information).

While many job opportunities are advertised on the internet, in newspapers and in magazines etc. it can often be very beneficial to identify a range of employers in an industry through business directories, particularly if you are considering making a speculative application.

Don't forget that support is always available from the Careers Service when applying for jobs and work experience.
