Entry requirements
Undergraduate Courses
Generally, students should have an Upper Secondary School leaving Certificate and have completed a recognised Foundation degree course.
At Aberystwyth University, we offer our own Foundation programmes. Please click on the ‘English Language Courses’ below.
For more information about our Undergraduate entrance requirements, please visit the Undergraduate Degree and HND Requirements page or contact the Undergraduate Office ug-admissions@aber.ac.uk.
Postgraduate Courses
Generally, the minimum entry requirement for most taught Masters Degree courses is a lower second class honours degree (2.2) or a GPA of 6.5 out of 10.
However, some departments may require upper second class honours degrees (2.1) (e.g. Department of International Politics), or relevant work experience (e.g. for MBA programme).
If you are applying for a research or funded Masters and PhD course you should hold or expect to achieve an upper second class (2.1) honours degree or above.
Non-graduates with at least 2 years of relevant full-time work experience are welcome to apply for any Masters course. In this instance your application will be judged on an individual basis. They may not however apply for a place on a PGDE course or for a PhD programme.
The following table shows how Vietnamese qualifications compare with UK degrees.

English Language
If you are a non-UK student or your native or first language is not English you will need to show evidence you have a sufficient knowledge of English - this level of proficiency in English must be proved before you begin your course. If you have not achieved the required level prior to the receipt of the application for admission, the formal offer for postgraduate study will include a condition that you will need to attain this level before the start of your course. If you do not attain the required level of proficiency, it will not be possible to admit you onto the course. You can view the level of English required here.
