Information for New Postgraduates
Congratulations on gaining a place at Aberystwyth University. We are looking forward to welcoming you as a Postgraduate student with us. The following pages have been put together to help you settle in as a postgraduate at Aberystwyth.
Information for Welcome Week 2016 will be available here from August 2016. This is for our main intake of campus-based students, although we have several postgraduate research students commencing at other times of the year. Distance-learning students will be provided with information for their study schools prior to the start of their courses.
For added information, just click each of the links below (click the link again to hide the content).
Your Postgraduate study at Aberystwyth begins at registration. For registration you will be required to meet with staff from any academic department responsible for modules on which you wish to register. For research students, this means you must also meet with staff in the Graduate School if you are required to, or choose to take research training modules.
Please remember that you will need to register every September regardless of when you commenced your programme until your studies are complete.
International Students: In addition to registering with your Department/s, you must also arrange to meet with the University’s Compliance Officer during your first week here.
The Academic Quality and Records Office (AQRO) oversee Registration and can be contacted by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Aber Card and Email set-up
To make use of the library, computing and media services at Aberystwyth University you need an email account and an Aber Card. You will be able to activate your email and apply for your card prior to arriving at the University.
If you have completed the application process you will be emailed instructions on how to do so by Information Services. For more information visit the Aber Card and Email page.
Bank Letters for non-UK students
When opening a student bank account in the UK, you may be asked to provide proof that you are a student at Aberystwyth University. This will take the form of a letter. Included in this letter will be your home and term time address taken from your student record. You will need to make sure that the University has your correct address details.
From September, bank letters may be requested via your Student Record and collected from the Certification Office within the Academic Quality & Records Office (Cledwyn Building) on Penglais Campus. In most cases letters will be available for collection within 24 hours.
