Teaching Areas
Gareth's teaching remit includes social psychology, introductory psychology, quantitative and qualitative approaches to research methods, and historical concepts and applications in psychology. Currently, Gareth is module convenor for PS11820: Conceptual and Historical Issues in Psychology and PS20220: Social Psychology.
Research
Gareth’s main research topics are in applied social psychology, and in particular the social identity approach for understanding group processes and intergroup behaviour. Gareth has explored his research interests using real-world groups, such as sports fans. Gareth's other research interests include male body image.
Biography
Gareth joined the psychology department as a lecturer in psychology in September, 2007 and he was awarded his PhD from Glamorgan University in 2009 where he had previously been working as a research assistant and part-time lecturer in psychology.
