About Research at Aberystwyth

Aberystwyth University possesses a long and distinguished record of undertaking cutting edge research in a broad range of disciplines of both national and international significance. The University’s Strategic Plan 2009-13 states that ‘We will produce high quality research, which is internationally acknowledged, responding to intellectual, cultural, social and economic needs’.

Research is an integral part of the University's mission and work. It is supported by a Research Strategy, the purpose of which is to ensure that the University can continue to produce a significant volume of high quality work and respond to the rapidly changing environment in the UK in relation to research and its funding.

The University has an excellent range of facilities and resources to assist with research activities including four substantial libraries, access to a wide range of electronic information sources, and the vast resources of the prestigious National Library of Wales on its doorstep.

Research at Aberystwyth University is supported by the Research Office. The core activities of the office are: pre-award research support, REF and research monitoring, research communications, large project management, and project management support for grants.
