Bioinformatics

The Bioinformatics Group conducts research in areas such as data analysis of large scale biological data, formalisation of biological data and systems biology.

Our current work includes software for primer design, analysis of DNA barcodes, text-mining of scientific publications, methods for genome engineering in yeast, formalisation of metabolomic data, ontologies in biomedical science, and analysis of plant genomics and phenomics. We make use of and conduct research into the computer science areas of machine learning, data mining, databases, first order logic, modelling and software engineering.
