Birmingham International

From the airport's own train station, catch the train to Birmingham New Street Station.  From here, regular trains run to Aberystwyth, taking approximately three and a half hours.

At the start of the academic year in September, the International Office offers a Meet and Greet service to International Students from Birmingham International Airport.

Cardiff International

Passengers who have a valid train ticket can catch the free shuttle bus from the Airport terminal to the Airport's own train station.  From here, catch the train to Cardiff Central Station and then you have the choice of travelling by bus or train to Aberystwyth.

By bus:

Catch the X40 Arriva bus which runs twice a day at 11:10am and 6:15pm.  This runs all the way to Aberystwyth, passing through Carmarthen and Aberaeron taking approximately four hours.

By train:

Catch a train to Shrewsbury where you can catch another train to Aberystwyth, taking approximately four hours.

Gatwick Airport (London)

The train journey from Gatwick takes approximately six hours.  Catch the direct train to London Victoria Station, then use the Underground's Victoria Line to reach London Euston Station for connecting services to Aberystwyth via Birmingham New Street.

Alternatively you could take the National Express coach to Birmingham and then at Birmingham switch to another coach to take you to Aberystwyth.  The coach departs from Gatwick airport at 11:35am and the journey to Aberystwyth will take approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes in total.

Heathrow Airport (London)

The London Underground will take you from Heathrow Airport to Euston for regular onward trains to Aberystwyth.

Alternatively you could take the National Express coach to Birmingham and then at Birmingham, switch to another coach to take you to Aberystwyth.  The coach departs from Heathrow airport at 1:00pm and the journey to Aberystwyth will take approximately seven hours and five minutes in total.

Luton Airport (London)

From the airport, take the Express Coach to Milton Keynes Central Railway Station (1 hour).  From there catch a train to Birmingham New Street Station and then another on to Aberystwyth.  The journey should take approximately 5 hours and 15 minutes.

Stanstead Airport (London)

Take the train from Stanstead Airport to Tottenham Hale Station and then the Underground to Euston station.  Once there, catch the train to Birmingham New Street Station.  From there, switch to a train to Aberystwyth.  The journey should take around 7 hours.

 

Ferry Links

Fishguard

Fishguard is the arrival port for ferries from Rosslare.  If you then need to use public transport to get to Aberystwyth, take the 412 bus to Cardigan and then change onto the X50 to take you to Aberystwyth.

Holyhead

Holyhead is the arrival port for ferries from Dublin and Dun Laoghaire.  Catch either a train or bus from Holyhead to Bangor and then the X32 to Aberysywtyth if you need to use public transport.

Eurostar

Eurostar trains from Paris and Brussels arrive at London St. Pancras. It is about a fifteen minute walk to London Euston for onward trains to Aberystwyth via Birmingham New Street.
