150 years of Mathematics at Aberystwyth

06 June 2023

This academic year is not only the 150th anniversary of the founding of Aberystwyth University, but also of the teaching of Mathematics at the University. Horatio Nelson Grimley was appointed in 1872 to teach Mathematics, and the teaching of Mathematics has continued ever since.

To mark this occasion, we have compiled a booklet of vignettes of former heads of department. We will be launching the booklet in Aberystwyth during the OSA celebrations for alumni from Friday 23 June to Sunday 25 June 2023, and we would very much like to see you here.

We will have a party at 3pm on Saturday 24th June, in the Physical Sciences Building - with cake! All are welcome. Alumni can register at https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/development/newsandevents/events/reunion-weekend-2023/; others should email maths@aber.ac.uk by 12th June.
