Departmental Dashboards

PGBI provides annual updates on a range of departmental indicators.  This forms part of the replacement for the data sheets and will be used in the Planning Round.  The dashboards under development are to include some of the following indicators. 

Home/EU Recruitment

Conversion rate (%)

The proportion of  applications which convert to a student intake.

Withdrawal (%)

Proportion of FTUG students who temporarily or permanently withdraw from their studies.

Quality/Student Experience

Good Honours

The proportion of students gaining Good Honours (a First or 2:1) is used by PGBI in conjunction with tariff points on entry to measure the added value which students are gaining from their university education.

I-Grad Results

The I-Grad survey (also known as the International Student Barometer) is an international survey open to all students  at participating Universities. It covers a wide range of satisfaction measures, including learning and teaching measures, living and social experience measures and support measures, providing a valuable insight into student satisfaction across their whole University experience).

NSS Teaching Score

The NSS is an annual UK survey of third year UG students and provides useful information about their satisfaction across 23 academic measures. The results are available at subject level and PGBI works closely with departments to develop plans to improve student satisfaction levelsThe NSS results are also a driver for UK League Table performance.

League Tables

Complete University Guide

The major UK league tables are each constructed with differing methodologies and with different data used for each. PGBI works to assess the impact of changes in HESA data and other measures on our league table position and to assess the reasons for changes in ranking annually.

Employability

Proportion of graduates in work

The Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey is an annual UK survey taken six months after graduation which asks leavers a range of questions about their work, their salary and whether they consider their degree to have been worthwhile in gaining employment. The results are a key league table driver and also provide useful information to the university to help enhance its employability initiatives.

Academic Staff Student Ratio

The SSR is a measure of the number of FTE Academic Staff to FTE student numbers.

Research

Applications submitted (number and value)

Research income is monitored on a monthly basis by AU’s Research Grant Office. Institutes have individualised research grant application and income targets.
