Research

Our laboratory studies post-exponential phase gene expression in several Gram-positive bacteria, including Bacillus and Clostridium. Recent work on dormancy in Micrococcus luteus led to the discovery of the Rpf family of bacterial growth factors found throughout the actinobacteria (e.g. mycobacteria, streptomycetes). We are currently exploring the mechanism of actions of these secreted bacterial growth factors and their potential applications for TB protection and therapy.
