Report from ‘Trust-Building and the Nuclear Future’ networking symposium published

10 January 2011

The project on The Challenges to Trust-building in Nuclear Worlds, led by Professor Nicholas J. Wheeler, makes public its report from the first Networking Symposium. The symposium on ‘Trust-Building and the Nuclear Future’ was held in the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth in September 2010. The project is supported by the Research Council UK’s programme ‘Global Uncertainties: Security for all in a changing world’.

The symposium brought together early career researchers, established academics and practitioners working in the fields of trust research and / or nuclear politics. The meeting provided a forum for interaction between all three groups with a particular view to facilitating professional links for the early career researchers and enhancing collaboration between researchers across various social scientific disciplines. In four sessions the symposium paid particular attention to the study of trust, regional nuclear dynamics, the future of the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, and the global nuclear future.
