‘Resolving International Crises of Legitimacy'

Professor Ian Clark, with Professor Chris Reus-Smit of Australian National University, launched a major collaborative work on ‘Resolving International Crises of Legitimacy'. This involved assembling an international team of researchers from North America, Australia, and the UK, including Professor Nicholas J. Wheeler, former DDMI director.

This study attempted to apply insights from the study of international legitimacy to the problems or crises faced by a number of international organizations or regimes, including the UN Security Council, the NPT, and the Kyoto Protocol. The research was funded by the British Academy, and also by the Rockefeller Foundation, which hosted a workshop at its international study centre at Bellagio, Italy in May 2006.
