Aberystwyth University prides itself on being student orientated but also research intensive. By aligning teaching and research we provide high quality, research-led programmes of study that makes use of the lecturers’ disciplinary research to introduce our students to the latest findings in their chosen discipline.

A high percentage of the University’s teaching staff are actively engaged in research and this excitement and knowledge is brought into our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes ensuring that all degree schemes are relevant to the modern world.
The results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) reported that 95% of the research activity submitted by Aberystwyth University was of an internationally recognised standard or higher. Read more about REF.

- Are stimulated and inspired by course content that has been determined by the lecturers’ research interests.
The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016 analysis ranks Aberystwyth University top for teaching excellence in Wales and 10th for teaching excellence in the UK.
Aberystwyth also ranked best in Wales for teaching and assessment and feedback according to the latest 2016 National Student Survey results.
