Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module, students should be able to
1. Perform a detailed and relevant literature review
2. Summarise the current state of the art in their chosen field
3. Plan and execute a theoretical, experimental and computational course of work related to their project
4. Summarise the results of their work and its implications
5. Highlight the outstanding issues in their chosen field of study.

Brief description

The major project will be based on an in-depth study of a topic in complex fluids which may include the application of rheology to an industrial flow process such as journal bearing lubrication, wire coating, process modelling of fibre-reinforced materials and extrusion in the food processing industry.

Aims

This module will provide students with an opportunity to make an in-depth study of some area of complex fluids. The project will involve a literature review and includetheoretical, experimental or computational work or possibly a combination of these, related to the flow being studied.
