The aim of this module is to introduce postgraduate students to the key concepts related to human resource manageent. The development of human resource management is considered, both as an academic discipline and a practical business function, and business decisions on how to manage people are related to the wider industrial relations system. Students learn how firm approaches to human resource issues such as recruitment, selection and training are influenced by both internal and external factors.

Brief description

This module is designed to introduce postgraduate students to the fundamental principles and concepts of human resource management; how these are applied to practical issues such as recruitment, selection and training; and contemporary issues associated with the effective management of human resources in organisations.
