Brief description

The course is aimed at introducing undergraduate students to a wide range of sociolinguistic issues relating to the Spanish-speaking world. It is especially designed for those students who have a sound practical knowledge of Spanish but who have little or no knowledge of linguistics and sociolinguistics. Delivered (mainly) in Spanish, the module provides a necessary introduction to sociolinguistic theory, but is primarily practical in its aims, allowing students to discover and discuss a series of social aspects that relate to the use of Spanish in the community.
