Brief description

Many parts of the information sector support education, lifelong learning, and outreach activities. Many of the activities are grouped under the category of `information literacy? but `client-led information services? encompasses more than information skills education and training for the immediate service users.Unit 1 covers the ways in which training and learning needs may be assessed. Unit 2 deals with approaches to teaching and learning. Unit 3 examines how to build a strategy for learning and teaching that covers everything for flyers and promotional material to programmes of support. Unit 4 considers some of the ways the `help-desk? can be made to work for the benefit of the organisation as well as the user. The implications of `end-user? computing are that users or clients may need support in specialist software beyond normal word processing and spreadsheet packages. Unit 5 examines how that support can be provided. Unit 6 examines some of the organisational factors that need to be considered when designing educational programmes.
