Critically evaluate the different structures that exist within multinational corporations

Be able to evaluate the significance of effectively managing people within international organizations

Critically evaluate and reflect upon the skills and competencies required to effectively lead and manage internationally

Critically evaluate the main ethical challenges that an international manager faces

Critically discuss of the key issues involved in formulating and applying an international strategy

Critically evaluate the significance of communicating effectively with the organization, particularly across language boundaries

Critically evaluate some of the key areas of cultural diversity

Evaluate the impact and influence of culture in international management

Critically evaluate and understand different types of international alliances

Critically discuss some of the key issues and the importance of effectively managing international industrial relations.

Brief description

The purpose of the module is to provide curriculum coverage on different aspects of international management with a main focus on the areas of knowledge required to effectively manage internationally within a modern multinational corporation. Key areas of international human resource management are covered, providing knowledge of some of the skills and competencies that are required of an international manager as well as some of the processes, issues and challenges with which the international manager will have to confront and overcome. While mainly lecture based, the module will also incorporate a number of recent and relevant case studies aimed at bringing these issues and challenges to life.

Content
