Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
demonstrate fundamental skills in the various processes of drawing
work in a number of different media from memory and from observation
make an informed and personal response within the confines of a prescriptive brief, and be able to articulate that response, both in terms of their their own work and that of others
work towards prescribed briefs and deadlines
demonstrate an approach that is interdisciplinary or multi-media in conception
evidence a self-critical approach to artwork
demonstrate knowledge of the creative potential of working in both acrylic and oil paint
demonstrate fundamental skills in the processes of darkroom photography
produce a small portfolio of prints
Content
WEEKS 1-5: I hour lecture followed by a 3-hour practical drawing class covering:

WEEKS 1-5: 3-hour ISP class (seminars, group workshop and presentations) followed by an hour of tutor-led study time:

Brief description
This is an introductory module to the theories and techniques of Drawing, Interdisciplinary Studio Practice (ISP), Painting and Photography.
Aims
This module, in conjunction with AR10740 Art Practice A in Semester 1, aims to give students the technical understanding and self-knowledge necessary for entry into their second year.
