Brief description
Extended essay on a subject chosen by the student related to one of the languages of their degree scheme; to be chosen in consultation with the module coordinator.
This is a module over two semesters available subject to the regulations below (a) to Joint Honours or Major/Minor students of two languages; (b) to Joint Honours students of a language plus another subject outside the Department; (c) to Major students of a language plus a Minor subject outside the Department.
The module is not available to students only taking a language as a Minor subject when their Major subject is outside the Department. The module is not available to students taking a Single Honours language degree as those degree schemes already contain a core dissertation module.
Students who wish to take extended essay or dissertation modules that are not core modules on their degree scheme must produce an abstract of around 500 words plus a comprehensive bibliography and title by 5.00pm of the Thursday of registration week in September. This will then have to be approved by the module coordinator before registration can be confirmed. Anyone who fails to do so will not be allowed to take the module and will be asked to make a different module choice.
Please contact the module coordinator in order to discuss the chosen topic.
