Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1.Show a critical understanding of the significance in context of the fundamental structures of British Labour Law.
2. Show evidence of having completed legal research in order to demonstrate advanced competence in locating and using both primary and secondary sources of Labour Law as well as doctrinal and theoretical perspectives on European law.
3. Demonstrate a detailed understanding of how different categories of Labour Law operate in specific fields of legal practice.
4. Provide a detailed elucidation of the principles on which Labour Law is based in specific fields of practice and how they operate in practice
5. Apply in a detailed manner the relevant legal principles to the resolution and clarification of theoretical and/or practical problems which raise issues relating to aspects of Labour Law.
Brief description
The module will promote understanding of the way in which social, political and economic factors have influenced the development and current position of law governing the employer/employee relationship, enable students to analyse and assess the conflicts between the rights of employers and employee, the balance between discriminating factors and business needs and the complex interrelationship between the legislature and the courts in formulating the law relating to this subject.
