Brief description

Students continue their life-class based art practice from Level 1, following a series of projects based around the life model. The type and length of pose is set by the tutor who will also prescribe a series of projects that explore the subject of the nude in the context of: line, tone, chiaroscuro, short and long poses, introducing the students to number of different drawing materials.

This module is designed for students wishing to work in the life class at level 2. It is an option for those students with a particular interest in drawing the nude and forms the first part of a pathway in Life Studies initiated in Part 1.

All life study sessions take place in the life room during periods of core studio time. A list of materials required for each session is posted one week in advance. The tutor determines the poses and context in which the following programme of study takes place:

Week 4: Tone (ii) development & group tutorial
