Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

1. Critically evaluate the role of an organisational leader in instigating and supporting change.

2. Display a conceptual and practical appreciation of leadership and management and the applications and principles of both.

3. Demonstrate an understanding of team dynamics, the learning organisation and individual and organisational resistance to change.

Brief description

Students will develop a critical appreciation of Leadership, Management and Team dynamics – particularly in relation to instigating and supporting change. Aimed at middle and senior Managers it will be delivered through lectures on academic principles, seminars with senior leaders from across sectors and self-reflection and facilitated discussions on the key issues. Assessment of the module will be through a written assignment, a reflective journal and a group presentation.

Content

This module will be delivered in 2 x 2 day teaching blocks a month apart followed by a fifth day 3 weeks post day 4 for the practical assessment and overall module review.
