Brief description

This module will teach you to apply scientific approaches to evaluate and monitor people. Regardless of the ‘person’, anyone who is focusing on human health and sport performance will need to be aware of the different types of research that are done to collect data, compare people and detect changes. This data is crucial in understanding what is happening to a person. Therefore, this module will combine the research process with the assessment and monitoring of different people. This could be athletes, specific populations (school children, parents, obesity) or clinical conditions (stroke, Parkinson's, kidney disease). To be able to quantify their current level, you need to be aware of what data to collect, and how to do that reliably and accurately. You need to be able to interpret that data and evaluate it with existing research methods. That is what this module will do; you will be collecting data, and evaluating research designs.

•Assessing quantitative Research (Reliability and Validity)
•Endurance performance (physiology), Gait analysis, Nutrition and hydration
•Assessing qualitative Research
•Psychological profiling: reliability and validity
•Data visualization and interpretation•Descriptive and inferential statistics
