Brief description

This module provides students with the opportunity to apply criminological knowledge, research skills and theoretical perspectives within a professional setting(s). Through a substantial workplace placement (or multiple smaller placements) with relevant organisations—such as the police or crime prevention units, probation services or resettlement support services, victim support agencies, youth justice teams, prisons, housing, victim support agencies, NGOs/charities working with offenders, victims or vulnerable groups, academic or applied research teams or community safety partnerships—students will gain practical experience, enhance employability and critically reflect on the relationship between criminological theory and practice. Following training they would be expected to perform at least an allotted number of hours in volunteer or paid work. Placement(s) must be approved by the module co-ordinator before commencement.
