Arriving by Train - Big Welcome 2020

For current train service information please refer to the Transport for Wales website.  Please note the guidance provided on the Transport for Wales website that you must wear a face covering on public transport.

Arriving for a pre-booked move in slot: Wednesday 16 – Saturday 19 September: 10.00 – 18.00

During the main arrivals period, from Wednesday 16 – Saturday 19 September, a free bus service will be available for students arriving on trains into Aberystwyth between 9.00 – 18.00.  This service will take you from the train station to the key collection point for your residence.  Please leave the station by the exit straight ahead (at the end of the platform) where our A Team volunteers (in red t-shirts) will direct you to the bus.

At key collection, colleagues will advise you on the options to get to your individual residence, based on whether this is located on campus, or in the town.

Please note that face coverings should be worn for the duration of the journey from the station to key collection and / or residences.

If you have booked to arrive during an ‘out of hours’ slot over these dates (i.e. after 18.00 on the 16 / 17 / 18 or 19 September), please following the guidance noted in the section below.

Arriving at other times

If you have booked to move into University accommodation during one of the below time / date slots, please note that you are asked to make your way independently from the train station to the key collection point to collect your keys.   This applies to:

  • Students who have booked an ‘early’ arrival slot (e.g. international students who have pre-booked to arrive independently of the airport pick up service) before 16 September.
  • Students who have booked to arrive in an ‘out of hours’ slot during the main arrivals period (i.e. after 18.00 on the 16 / 17 / 18 or 19 September).
  • Students who have booked a ‘late’ arrivals slot from Sunday 20 September onwards.

When leaving the train station from the left hand exit, a taxi rank is located immediately outside.
