The Enrolment Process at Aber

Lilia Mo, is in her third year studying Plant Biology. Here, Lilia introduces you to the enrolment process:
Moving to university can be an exciting time in your life, but before you can embark on your journey as a student at Aberystwyth University, you’ll have to complete a few tasks. You can find a full, detailed checklist of these tasks at the Enrolment : Welcome , Aberystwyth University webpage.
Start by activating your Aberystwyth University IT account. You should receive instructions for this to your personal email – if you can’t find it, be sure to check spam and junk folders.
The next task on your to-do list will be to apply for your Aber Card – an essential piece of equipment which you’ll need throughout your years at Aberystwyth University, so be sure to choose a good picture. You’re allowed to smile, this is not a passport photo!
To access all of the university services and information, you should download the Student Hub, which contains all of the relevant webpages and links to help you navigate university.
It’s totally normal to be feeling a bit nervous about the list of things you need to do before you even arrive here. To help with this, you can use the Online Student Induction, which will provide you with helpful information on lots of topics related to moving in and settling into university life, as well as the facilities and services the university has to offer.
Only one more step to complete until you’re registered as a student at Aberystwyth! Next, you need to enrol for your course online by completing both pre-registration, (where you pick your modules in some cases), and registration in due time before the deadline. You’ll be able to find messages about this in your university email inbox, and more information on the Registration : Academic Registry , Aberystwyth University webpage.
Once you’ve arrived at Aberystwyth University, you can complete registration. Registration can be done over the university Wi-Fi (eduroam). You can access eduroam from your university accommodation if you’re on Penglais campus, any academic building on campus, or from the Workstation located near Aberystwyth Station in town. The Registration : Academic Registry , Aberystwyth University webpage has more details about registration. You’ll need to make sure you both register and pre-register on time. If you don’t you won’t be a registered student with us!
And then that’s pretty much it! Congratulations! You’ll then be officially registered as a student at Aberystwyth University.
It’s important to remember that, while exciting, moving to university can be a little daunting and sometimes a nerve-wracking or overwhelming experience. Just remember that everybody else is in the same boat as you, and it’s okay to feel a little scared. The university has help should you need it any time while you are here via Student Support Services. But most of all, look forward to all the new opportunities and experiences these next few years will bring you!
