What is Clearing?

Clearing is another chance to find a university and course that’s the right fit for you.

Whether you didn’t get the results you were expecting, have changed your mind about what or where you want to study, or are applying for the first time, you can use Clearing to your advantage. Whatever your reason, this is your moment to reset, re-focus, and take control of your next step.

When does Clearing open?

Clearing opens on Saturday, 5 July 2025 and closes on Monday, 20 October 2025

Who is Clearing for?

You can apply through Clearing if:

  • you’re applying after 30 June
  • you didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
  • you didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
  • you’ve changed your mind about your course, university, or existing offers.

To use Clearing, you’ll need to apply through UCAS and be looking to start an undergraduate course this September.

How can I find out what courses are in Clearing?

Most Clearing courses will be listed on the UCAS website, including their entry requirements.

It’s also a good idea to check university websites directly. They often have the most up-to-date information about courses, accommodation, student life, and the support available.
