Harriet Howse

With 10 years prior experience and qualifications in international higher education, Harriet joined Aberystwyth University in 2020 as Head of International Recruitment and Development, later taking the role of Head of Global Engagement in 2025. Harriet is a strong advocate for international higher education and firmly believes in the transformative power of global learning, collaboration, and cultural exchange. Harriet believes meaningful international partnerships and experiences can play a significant role in breaking down cultural barriers, fostering mutual understanding, and bringing people together across borders. 

The Global Engagement Team at Aberystwyth University is comprised of four areas:

International English Centre: Providing English Language and Academic Skills training for international students in the form of our International Foundation Programme, Pre-sessional English programmes, English Language Study Abroad, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) qualifications, individual student support, Summer Schools and Bespoke Study Programmes.

International Recruitment Team: Made up of colleagues based in Aberystwyth and overseas, the team works directly with prospective international students, recruitment partners and international schools to deliver and promote information about the University. 

International Partnerships and TNE Team: The team works closely with our Academic Registry to identify and develop partnerships and transnational education with likeminded institutions and organisations overseas.

Global Opportunities Team: The team focusses on developing opportunities for and supporting Aberystwyth University students overseas, exchange programmes, and incoming study abroad students.
