Simon is a Clinical Skills Lecturer Practitioner, contributing to Clinical Skills, for all stages of the programme in the Health Education Centre at Aberystwyth University. Raised in Ceredigion, Simon entered nursing via the Access Course in 2015 and qualified in Adult Nursing in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science (Adult Nursing) with honours, from Swansea University.
His nursing career started in Cardiac/Respiratory care, moving in April 2019 to Community Nursing in Llandysul, then to Ceredigion to work Aberaeron/ New Quay. During the Covid pandemic, he commenced the Specialist Practitioner District Nurse diploma at Swansea University and completed in 2023. Following this, Simon worked in the Acute Response team as a band 6 nurse, before moving on to a caseload holder as a District Nurse in Lampeter. Simon has experienced a wide range of nursing environments. During this time, he developed a keen interest in Palliative Care, ensuring that timely care was delivered to patients living in the community. Having moved from Clinical Practice into Education, Simon hopes to inspire and nurture nurses of the future, in a bid to create the highly enjoyable experience he had as a student nurse.
