Abby Monk completed her BA (Hons) (2015) and MA (2016) at the Department of History and Welsh History at Aberyswtwyth University, and is currently completeing her PhD thesis on the depictions of exiles and the displaced in narrative histories that emerged from the Anglo-Norman World. Her additional research interests include collective exiled memory, the relationships between Norman Sicily and the Byzantine Empire, with a focus on the role that exiles played in the politics of the twelfth century, and the reception of exiles in the Islamic World of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.
