Calling All Primo E-Shelf Users – Please Save Your Primo E-Shelf Records Before the Summer Upgrade (30 June)
18/05/2015
Information Services are upgrading the Primo library catalogue on 30 June this year, using improved background software. The URL of the Primo catalogue will remain at http://primo.aber.ac.uk and the outward appearance of the new Primo page will be relatively similar. However, changes in the structure of our basic Primo records mean that it will be impossible to automatically migrate the Primo E-Shelf data which individuals may have created directly into the new Primo system. It will therefore be necessary for all AU staff and students who want to maintain the content of their current Primo E-Shelf folders for use in the next academic year 2015/16 to output their E-Shelf data before 30 June so that they have a copy of all their content for re-input to the new Primo E-Shelf system after 1 July.
The easiest way to do this is to use the Primo E-Shelf E-mail Export function. Connect to Primo at http://primo.aber.ac.uk and then Sign-In, before opening your E-Shelf from the link at the top right of the Primo screen. To avoid overloading the e-mail export, select a maximum of around 30 items from your E-Shelf by ticking the boxes on the left-hand side of your list and then click on the E-mail output option at the top-right of your list to send yourself a message (to your AU e-mail address) containing details of the selected records. Then repeat this selection process over all your E-Shelf folders so that all your records are exported to your e-mail account. These individual e-mail records can then be used to identify and add the same records to the new Primo E-Shelf system after 1 July.
Please contact acastaff@aber.ac.uk if you have any difficulties with the e-mail export.
