Aberystwyth University’s reputation for excellent student satisfaction has been underlined once more by the latest UK-wide university league table.

The 2024 Complete University Guide, published on Wednesday 7 June, ranks Aberystwyth 2nd in the UK for Student Satisfaction, up one place on last year.

The University is also a big climber, making it into the top 40 in the UK at 39 following a rise of 14 places overall. It is also up one place to 2nd overall in Wales.

Ongoing investment in academic study facilities for students is reflected in a rise from 14th to 3rd in the UK for Academic Services, and the University features in 17th place in the UK for research intensity, reflecting the proportion of staff involved in research.

Professor Tim Woods, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning, Teaching and Student Experience at Aberystwyth University, said: “Once more, these results are excellent and reflect the dedication of our staff to providing the best possible learning experience. As a research-led University, our students are also benefiting from being taught by active researchers, many of whom are leaders in their respective academic disciplines, enriching their learning experience. It is excellent to see this aspect recognised in today’s announcement.”

The Complete University Guide features 130 institutions from across the UK and is based on ten measures: Entry Standards, Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Graduate Prospects – outcomes, Graduate Prospects – on track, Student-Staff Ratio, Spending on Academic Services, Spending on Student Facilities, and Continuation.

Aberystwyth University was ranked top in England and Wales for student satisfaction in the 2022 National Student Survey and second in the UK for student experience in the 2023 Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide.

The University was also a big climber in the most recent Guardian UK university rankings, up 24 places to 40th overall.

And in April of this year, the University won two coveted awards at the 2023 What Uni Student Choice Awards for Lecturers and Teaching Quality and Student Life.
