Your Academic Department can’t wait to welcome you in September.

Your department have outlined information for Welcome Week on where to go for your first meeting, some of the activities and events that you will partake in which are designed for you to get to know them, make friends and adapt to life as part of your new department.

Art
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the School of Art in September. Our Department is based in the Edward Davies Building and you can find us here in the town.
To help you settle in, meet your teaching staff, and connect with fellow students, we’ve planned a series of welcome activities starting on Monday 22nd September at the School of Art. In the afternoon, you’ll meet your personal tutor, subject lecturers, and current students, followed by an informal orientation session with all staff. And yes—there will be pizza!

Business
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in Aberystwyth Business School in September. Our Department is based in the Hugh Owen Building and you can find us here.
Your first meeting with the School will be on Monday 22 September at 11.00 in the lecture theatre HO - C22 found in the Hugh Owen building where you will be introduced to other students studying your degree, and the staff that will teach you. Also, in your first week we will be running a programme of activities to help you settle in and allow you to understand how university life works.

Computer Science
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Computer Science in September. Our Department is based in the Llandinam Building and you can find us here.
We will be running a number of induction activities during Welcome Week. There will be an introductory session to help you get familiar with our computers and the way our IT systems are set up and lead you towards the way we teach programming in the first year. You will also get to know your personal tutor, a lecturer in our department who will be there to support you during your whole time at our university. This will not only help you to find your way but also provide an excellent opportunity to get to know your fellow students.

Education
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the School of Education in September. Our Department is based in P5 and you can find us here.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the department on Monday, 22 September which will include registration and welcome talks. Full details, including timings and locations, will be shared closer to the date. Induction Week features a range of activities to help you settle in, including a Welcome Buffet and Study Information Session, guided library tours, and a walk around Aberystwyth with department staff and fellow students. You'll also meet second and third-year students for insights into life and study at Aberystwyth.

Engineering
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in Engineering in September. We are based in the Physical Sciences Building and you can find us here.
We look forward to meeting you on Monday 22nd September.
We will be hosting activities and events designed to help you settle in, make new friends and feel like part of the department in your first week at university. On Monday you’ll meet your personal tutor, a key contact who will support you throughout your studies.

English & Creative Writing
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of English and Creative Writing in September. Our Department is based in the Hugh Owen Building and you can find us here.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you at our Induction session on Monday, 22 September in room HO-A14 (11.00 to 12:30) for all our first year students, where you’ll receive all the essential information to start your semester and have the chance to hear from Head of School, Prof Louise Marshall, our subject Librarian Joy Cadwallader and other key staff.

Geography & Earth Sciences
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences in September. Our Department is based in the Llandinam Building and you can find us here.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to Geography and Earth Sciences. There is a range of activities planned over the first few weeks which will help you to get to know the Department, the staff and your fellow classmates. This will include meeting your Personal Tutor and social events where you can meet the people on your course. We will also provide staff-led induction field activities so that you get to know the area too.

Healthcare Education Centre
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Healthcare Education Centre in September. Our Department is located here.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Department for your first day on Monday, 1 September at 10am. Your induction will be in the Gwendolen Rees Building, in Lecture Theatre GR1.31. There will be signs displayed directing you to the correct location, so please don’t worry. We strongly encourage students to attend all academic induction activities taking place during your welcome week. These activities are designed to help you learn about the structure of the course and opportunities available to you.

History & Welsh History
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of History and Welsh History in September. Our Department is based in the History and International Politics Building and you can find us here.
During Welcome Week, we will be holding a series of welcome events in the Department that will help you settle into all areas of university life. These events will introduce you to your course, allow you to get to know members of staff in the department, and, most importantly, give you opportunities to meet your fellow History classmates. Attending these events will also familiarize you with the Department's physical location and help you feel at home in the Department of History and Welsh History.

Information Studies
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Information Studies in September. Our Department is based in P5 and you can find us here.
Staff in the Department of Information Studies will welcome all new students on Wednesday, 24 September in room HO-A14 (from 11.30am). This is an opportunity to meet everyone starting your course in Cultural Heritage as well as others embarking on Masters degrees and PhDs.

International Politics
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of International Politics in September. Our Department is based in the International Politics Building and you can find us here.
The welcome meeting for all new students in the Department of International Politics will take place at 12pm on Monday 22nd September, and is part of our week-long schedule of activities designed to help you settle in, make friends, and adapt to life as part of the department. We strongly encourage new students to attend all their academic induction activities taking place during welcome week as they’re designed to help you learn about the structure of the course you’ve chosen and the range of opportunities available to you here in the Department of International Politics and beyond.

Law & Criminology
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Law and Criminology in September. Our Department is based in the Hugh Owen Building and you can find us here.
The department will be running activities and events during Welcome Week, including welcome talks, a pizza lunch, a pub quiz social and a walk along the prom to ‘kick the bar’ (an Aberystwyth tradition). These activities are designed to help you to settle in, make friends and adapt to life as part of your department.

Life Sciences
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Life Sciences in September. Our Department is based in the Gwendolen Rees Building and you can find us here.
To help you settle in and get to know your fellow students and staff, we have scheduled Departmental and degree scheme welcome talks for Monday 22nd September. You will meet your degree scheme coordinator and personal tutor and then join us for a Department of Life Sciences (DLS) pizza lunch. We are here to help you, so please feel free to ask us anything! If we can’t help you directly, we’ll be able to point you in the direction of someone who can.

Mathematics
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Mathematics in September. Our Department is based in the Physical Sciences Building and you can find us here.
We look forward to meeting you on Monday 22nd September. We will soon send further information about the department’s programme of induction events during Welcome Week - where to go and when. We strongly encourage you to attend these so that we can tell you more about the structure of your Mathematics degree, and so that you can meet key members of Mathematics staff and other students on your course.

Modern Languages

We strongly encourage you to attend all of the academic induction activities taking place during welcome week as they are designed to help you learn about the structure of the course and opportunities available and get to know members of staff within your department.

Physics
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Physics in September. Our Department is based in the Physical Sciences Building and you can find us here.
We look forward to meeting you on Monday, 22 September and welcoming you to the Department. The Department will be hosting activities and events designed to help you settle in, make new friends and feel like part of the department in your first week at university. On Monday, you’ll meet your personal tutor, a key contact who will support you throughout your studies.
During the week, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know the staff who will be teaching you and familiarise yourself with the laboratories and teaching spaces. In addition to department presentations, there will be talks from current students, societies, and university services who are here to support you in your studies.

Psychology
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Psychology in September. Our Department is based in P5 and you can find us here.
Our Welcome Week activities will begin on Monday 22nd September. Here’s a preview of what’s in store - on Monday we’ll kick things off with a Welcome Talk introducing the department and staff, followed by scheme-specific sessions and your first group tutorial with your personal tutor. On Tuesday join us for the Psychology Challenge, a fun and relaxed way to meet others and work together. Unwind at our department social on Thursday, with pizza and drinks—an ideal chance to make new friends.

Theatre, Film & Television Studies
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Department of Theatre, Film and TV Studies in September. Our Department is based in the Parry Williams Building and you can find us here.
To help you settle in and get to know your peers and staff, we’ve scheduled departmental welcome activities on Monday, 22 September. You’ll start by meeting your Personal Tutor, followed by a ‘Welcome to the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies’ talk. We’re here to support you—if you have any questions, just ask! If we don’t have the answer, we’ll point you to someone who does.
Throughout the week, there will be talks and activities designed to help you adapt to university life, connect with your coursemates, and meet the staff who’ll be teaching and supporting you. You’ll also receive key information about your course—and don’t miss the grand TFTS Quiz!

Veterinary Nursing
We are delighted that you’ll be joining us in the Aberystwyth School of Veterinary Science in September. Our Department is based in the Veterinary Education Centre and you can find us here.
The Welcome Week activities for Veterinary Nursing will be starting on Monday, 22 September. We will be running a variety of activities and events, which are designed to get you started as a Veterinary Nursing student at Aberystwyth University. These include social activities to allow you to make friends and meet staff, as well as Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) enrolment processes.

Veterinary Science

Welcome Week for Veterinary Science students will be starting on Monday 15th of September, where there will be a variety of events and activities organised designed to introduce you to Aberystwyth and your chosen career as a Veterinary Surgeon. These will also include some social activities to allow you to get to know other students and staff. You will receive further information regarding the wider University Welcome Week, which will be held the following week.
