Development Needs Analysis (DNA)

What is the DNA?
DNA stands for Development Needs Analysis. It is a method for assessing a student’s research training needs based upon their individual research project and professional goals. The process ensures that students are aware of the training needs they require and supports them in finding the appropriate training provision within the university and beyond. The process is facilitated through MyPGR where you will be asked to go through a questionnaire in conversation with your supervisors.

For more information on DNA please watch our training video.

UPDATE: the DNA video is now out of date as the process is moving to MyPGR. Please watch this space for more detail on how to complete the DNA process and access training through MyPGR (October 16, 2026).
