IOSH Working Safely

The Health, Safety and Environment Department are delighted to be able to offer Aberystwyth University students the opportunity to attend the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health IOSH Gweithio'n Ddiogel / Working Safely training course.

The one-day course is designed and quality-controlled by one of the country’s leading Chartered bodies for health and safety, and offers an introduction to the fundamentals of health and safety, in addition to key environmental considerations. The course is highly regarded by industries and employers as the transferable skills gained allow successful delegates to demonstrate an appreciation of health and safety considerations in the workplace. Training involves a strong interactive element, and allows delegates to draw from and share their own experiences in the workplace.

Health, safety and risk considerations are increasingly sought by a range of prospective employers. Completion of the IOSH Working Safely course provides delegates with:

  • an understanding and appreciation of workplace risks;
  • internationally recognised training, respected by employers;
  • a recognised, and externally accredited, workplace-related health and safety qualification to include on your CV;

The Course

Modules covered by the course will include:

  1. Introducing Working Safely – Introducing the realities of human suffering and emphasising the importance of personal responsibility.
  2. Defining Hazard and Risk –Focus on hazards and risks experienced in the work environments, with a focus on the six main hazard groups.
  3. Identifying Common Hazards – An analysis of the main categories, which include slips, trips and falls and manual handling.
  4. Improving Safety and Performance –encouraging delegate involvement in processes that are often seen as the exclusive responsibility of managers or supervisors.

Cost

Aberystwyth University students will be able to benefit from the IOSH Working Safely training course for a specially reduced fee of £35 per delegate, which includes the cost of the IOSH Working Safely workbook and certificate.
