IBERS Distance Learning

Established in 2012, IBERS Distance Learning has an excellent track record in training agrifood professionals. Our aim is to support the sector to become more sustainable and resilient by helping it to adopt circular economy approaches. Our carefully curated online modules provide you with the latest thinking in sustainability practices and technologies as well as the communication tools to allow you to pass on this knowledge effectively. Our aim is to support the sector to become more sustainable and resilient by helping it to adopt circular economy approaches.

The IBERS DL programme’s ‘pay-as-you-go’, ‘pick-and-mix’ format means that you can take individual modules or build up to a range of postgraduate qualifications.  So, if you are interested in ideas such as: shorter supply chains, waste reduction and tools to identify carbon hotspots, in sectors ranging from meat and dairy to vertical farming, this could be the programme for you!

All qualifications available through IBERS DL are validated by Aberystwyth University.

IBERS DL is a flexible programme which aims to be responsive to high-level and technical skills gaps identified by the agri-food sector. If you have a training need within your business, it’s worth getting in touch to find out if we can develop a module or part of a module to meet your needs.

**You may exit any of our MSc programmes with a PGCert (any 3 modules) or a PGDip any 6 modules.

How are our online modules delivered?

Each distance learning module runs for 13/14 weeks and is delivered entirely online. Learning material in each weekly unit is made up of: an interactive study guide, videoed lectures and discussions, downloadable podcasts, guided reading, interactive quizzes, and an online discussion forum. To participate you will need access to broadband that can stream a YouTube video.

Entry Criteria

To be accepted as a postgraduate student, candidates must either:

  • hold at least a second-class honours degree in an appropriate science subject OR
  • have at least two years relevant experience. Applications from mature candidates with relevant experience will be considered on a case by case basis.

English Language Requirements

International and EU applicants will need to show evidence of a sufficient knowledge of English. This must be proved before you begin your course. If you have not achieved the required level before sending us your application, your formal offer for postgraduate study will include a condition stating that you need to achieve this level before the start of your course. The level required is IELTS 6.5.  If you do not reach the required level of proficiency, it will not be possible to admit you onto the course.
