International Shoulder Rehabilitation Conference a big success.

14 December 2012

The XI conference of the International shoulder group (ISG), an International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) Technical Group, recently took place at Aberystwyth University from the 22-24th August.

The conference was organised by Dr. Ed Chadwick (ISG Chair), and attracted delegates from countries all over the world. Keynote speeches were given by Professor DirkJan Veeger and Professor Robert Kirsch.  Almost 50 presentations of podium and poster formats were delivered on a range of subjects relating to the shoulder including: muscle function, rotator cuffs, glenohumeral function, arthroplasty, scapular kinematics, shoulder kinematics and impingement.

Current research from the Department of Sport and Exercise Science was presented by James Marchi, Dr Dimitra Blana and Dr Ed Chadwick. The aim of this on-going research is to quantify shoulder stability. A selected range of research presented at the conference will be published in a special issue of Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing, devoted to shoulder biomechanics.
