Profile
My research focus is improving the sustainability of farm systems. During the last 20 years I have worked in both the UK and Switzerland, and with partners across the globe to develop and apply a variety of methods including farm system modelling, carbon footprinting, lifecycle analysis, nutrient dynamics, economics and wider holistic methods. I work within multiple European and nationally funded projects to develop improved methods for assessing the diverse nature of agroecological innovations through farm system modelling linked to LCA indicators. My current work includes developing and assessing sustainable pathways for European livestock systems within the EU-Pathways project, creating improved legume based ruminant systems in the UK, as well as contributing towards meeting the multiple objectives of achieving Net Zero, reducing nitrogen losses and improving biodiversity, whilst maintaining high productivity through Land Use Net Zero projects. I am also happy to contribute to Agricultural Systems journal as an editorial advisory board member.
Current projects include:
Pathways for transitions to sustainability in livestock husbandry and food systems (PATHWAYS) - https://pathways-project.com/
